Choosing the Right Insulation Material

Regardless of the material selected, your insulation solution should match the given component’s dimensions. Well-fitting material will be easier to use and will better prevent heat loss.

At Firwin Corporation, we offer several types of high-temperature thermal insulation materials to meet your equipment’s unique requirements. Our liners and covers consist of quality, reliable materials with custom options available for each application.

The following are the specific types of high-temperature insulation products available from Firwin Corporation:

  • Firwin Plus. This high-heat insulation material consists of high-temperature, low bio-persistence insulation wool. This material boasts superior thermal stability, thermal shock resistance, low heat storage, and sound absorption.
  • Firwin SW1800 Insulation. Firwin SW1800 is ideal for high-temperature applications requiring superior stability. Unique properties included with this material include thermal shock resistance, chemical resistance, and improved solubility when exposed to bodily fluids.
  • Board Insulation 15080 RHF™40. These materials comprise non-combustible ROXUL® mineral wool with a melting point of about 2150 F (1177 C), making it ideal for use in applications requiring reliable fire resistance. This lightweight mineral wool innately repels water and permeates vapor.
  • Rockwool Board Insulation 8LB. Made of slag and basalt rock, this non-combustible insulation material is also highly resistant to fire with a melting point of approximately 2150 F (1177 C). It’s also highly water-repellant while allowing vapor through.
  • Firwin Vermiculite-Coated Fiberglass Fabric. This high-temperature fiberglass insulation material consists of a plain weave with a vermiculite compound coating for superior temperature resistance. It can substitute ceramic fabrics and silica materials.
  • Firwin 1200 Insulation Mat. With the ability to resist temperatures of up to 1200 F, this mechanically bonded glass fiber material works in many high-heat applications requiring uniform insulation. Its superior drapability allows the material to conform to many types of surfaces.
